• 10th Anniversary Party

On the 11th June 2011 we celebrated owning  Martham Lodge for 10 years with a garden party. We sent an editorial to the local paper in the hope they would publish a feature about the event. Below is a transcript of what we sent!

Martham Lodge 10 year anniversary party. 11th June 2011.

Local care home Martham Lodge, which is situated on The Green in the picturesque village of Martham, celebrated 10 years under its current owners Sue & Ray Hollyman, by holding a garden party which was attended by over 75 friends and staff from the past as
well as current residents of the home and their relatives and acquaintances.

A marquee was erected in the garden to ensure that the event went ahead regardless of the British weather and homemade scones, shortbread; freshly picked local strawberries & cream along with glasses of bubbly were enjoyed by all in what turned out to be a
    glorious sunny afternoon.

A raffle was held on the day and amongst the prizes was a beautiful flower arrangement donated by Naomi’s Flower Gallery and a meal for two donated by the Kings Arms Public House both of which are also situated on The Green in Martham. In total the raffle
together with donations raised over £156.00 which will be put into the resident’s amenities fund along with the £16.00 raised by a second hand book stall . Delightful music was provided  by local man John who played his saxophone under the dappled shade of the apple tree in the beautiful garden

Sue & Ray Hollyman took over Martham Lodge at the end of May 2001 and together with their registered manager Emma Johnson who has worked closely with them since day one, they have built up a dedicated staff who have worked hard to make it the wonderful caring & homely environment that it is today.

Martham Lodge is a 20 bedded home that specialises in caring for those that suffer from a dementia such as Alzheimer’s, so the interior of the home has been thoughtfully planned & decorated to create a restful, calm environment for those that live there.

Sue & Ray also own two other care homes, Broadlands House in Potter Heigham which they purchased in 2004, Dawn Clarke the manager had previously worked as a senior carer at Martham Lodge until she moved in June 2005. The other home in the group, Broadlands Park, which is managed by Sharon Huxtable, and has been owned by Sue & Ray since 1985 has recently undergone a complete renovation which included adding a new shaft lift, a large purpose built extension and increased facilities, communal areas and gardens for those that reside there.

Sue & Ray’s ethos has always been to provide comfortable homely safe environments for all of their clients as well as ensuring that a high level of care is constantly delivered by each of their care teams, this is ensured by their commitment to providing ongoing training for all of their 100 plus staff which is tailored specifically to meet the changing needs of their residents.
